Staying active Virtually

This weekend was supposed to be one of the busiest running weekends of the year. I was set to return and repeat last years fantastic 3 day event weekend, starting off with 5k and then pacing the sub 4 #funbus at Liverpool Rock and Roll Marathon weekend. Then heading back to London to run the Vitality 10k. Instead, like all of you, I am finding my way through Lockdown with virtual adventures. This weekend I gave a talk for the #runfitexpo Virtual edition, and then took part in the #indoorrelay. What have you been doing to stay active virtually?

Talking at the Runfitexpo 2019

I always give a talk at the Runfitexpo in advance of Liverpool Marathon. I was signed up to talk for the 4th year in a row, but with the event being postponed the team at Runfitexpo decided to put on the event virtually. I love taking part in the talk mostly for the Q&A, so I was less confident just doing a recording, but it is great to be involved and hopefully help people along the way. If you want to see my recordings it is part of the Runfitexpo Blog HERE. Feel free to ask me any questions.

Indoor relay

If you have not heard of the Indoor Relay then take a look HERE. The team from the National Running Show have been running a relay non stop since the 2nd May, and will carry on until 30th May. You can join in by taking part, watching live at any point, setting challenges for runners, and most of all donating. 5 fantastic charities have been chosen, all of which are very much in need at times like now. The Covid pandemic has had a huge impact on donations for charities, and many are struggling. Others are having to work overtime owing to the impact of Lockdown, on peoples mental health, or increased vulnerability being indoors for longer periods.

Indoor relay fun

I had a lovely time chatting with Mike whilst dressed up as spiderman. Go take part and have some fun.

Events I would have ran

I would have loved to have been at Liverpool this weekend, and at the moment it is rescheduled for October. I have everything crossed that it goes ahead. If not, I will be back when it’s on. Take a look at last years review HERE.

The RnR Liverpool #pickupthepaceteam

I had planned on coming back and running the Vitality 10k on Bank holiday monday. A lovely way to see London, and always a lovely 10k to be part of. You can see my review from last year HERE. I will be back next year.

  1. I’m not doing any virtual stuff apart from Ben Smith (the 401 runner)’s America challenge where we’re all logging our miles to run the route he’s going to be running and cycling across America. Other than that, just running. But with one other person sometimes – hooray!
