In my next entry for my Running Motivation series it is a pleasure to introduce Emily and Hannah, better known together as Twicethehealth. They are both inspirational in their own right, but together they make one awesome team. They have some amazing highlights between them from 2019, and I can’t wait to see what they have to come in 2020.
What has been your highlight of 2019

Where to even begin? Last year saw us take on hosting our own running retreat in Norfolk, Paris Marathon, Marlow to Windsor Marathon, Race to the Stones 100km, Richmond Run Fest, H’s 250km 5 day ultra in Jordan, and just to finish things off we celebrated the end of the year with a 75km 2 day ultra in the Azores.
For E, the highlight was the Paris marathon. The race felt smooth from start to finish and finally helped her budge her mental marathon block. The crowds were incredible and the route was stunning. For H it has to be Jordan. What an adventure! It can only be described as a totally eye-opening experience, and one that H will never forget. The camaraderie, the ultra culture and the epic sense of adventure made for one hell of a week of running.
What are you most looking forward to in 2020

It is time for H to take on her first 70.3 and for E to master the full ironman as we head out to Vichy in August. We are both very excited to be getting back out on the bike again and E can’t wait to take H to Shepperton lake for some open water swimming. H feels the same… she thinks!
We’ll also be toeing up to the London Marathon startline once again, and there’s no denying that race sits very close to our hearts. There’s something about racing in our hometown, in the race that first relighted our running passion that will never get old.
What are your top 3 tips to stay motivated to run

– Grab a buddy
– Set a goal you actually want to achieve, not one influenced by others.
– Don’t always run for time or distance, make sure you are out there because you want to be. Running is not punishment, and if you crack the above you may even enjoy it 😉
I am a little gutted that Emily and Hannah are heading out to Vichy Ironman this year rather than last. I know they will have a fantastic time, as I did in 2019 (check out my race review HERE). Some great tips once again, and one that is very important “remember running is not a punishment”.
