2020 was hard for everyone. For me it was the year of pacing marathons. I had planned the most exciting year ever, to run Tokyo Marathon for my 5th star and pacing over a dozen marathons around the world, including Prague and Rome Marathons for the first time. As a running community we have all adapted and found challenges in different ways, and I have been thinking about doing something special myself, so here it is; 11 Marathons in 11 Days.
Finding events to take part in has been difficult, but between 9th May and 19th May I will be running 11 Marathons in 11 Days. Why 11 marathons you say? Well I will be running 10 marathons in 10 days with Phoenix Running Events, and this will be broken up with Richmond Marathon, making it 11 Marathons in 11 Days.
This is a personal challenge for me, I have never ran more than 2 marathons in a row before, and that was a struggle. I wanted to do something that would really push me, and usually I would never consider this many marathons together as I would not want to hinder performance whilst pacing races. So it seems like a good time. This will be a huge challenge for me just to complete, but I also have a Gold Standard of 11 Sub 4 marathons. This may quickly change depending on how I feel on Day 2.
With such a challenge, I thought it would be a great way to make a difference by raising money for charity. After raising over £5,000 for Cancer Research with my Team at the #winterrun I wanted to continue to support Cancer Research. I would be most grateful if you could help support me by donating as much as you can for this fantastic charity.
During my challenge it would be fantastic if you could look up Phoenix Running and Richmond Marathon and see if there are any spaces for you to join me for a marathon or two. Come and run with me on the #funbus. Phoenix Running have individual events each day I’m Running my marathon which are all timed events, so you can run as far as you like, whether that is one lap (3.28 miles), 10k, half Marathon, Marathon or ultra.
Why not join me virtually? In order to raise more money for Cancer Research, and to help everyone get involved in my Marathon Challenge, I have created the #FunbusMarathon medal. Between 9th and 19th May why not join me for a marathon. Whether you do this in one go, one day, or over the 11 days. Set yourself a personal challenge and join the #FunbusMarathon
I have pre ordered 100 medals, and will order more if there is interest. I am giving 100% of the profits from the #FunbusMarathon challenge to Cancer Research.
