adidas Terrex Agravic 3 Trail Running Shoes Review

I have run in many Trail Running Shoes, but mostly I have opted for the high end, with all the features. In truth, these have been far more than I needed, and whilst I’ve run in some fantastic shoes, this is not realistically what I need. I run mostly on roads, so I am looking for a shoe for light trails, and something to keep my feet dry on the winter dog walks. In collaboration with adidas I was offered the chance to review some trail running / walking shoes, and I decided the terrex agravic 3 trail running shoes looked perfect for what I need. I am grateful to be given these trainers.

It has been a while since I have taken part in an ultra or trail running event. Over the last decade it has been my off season challenge where I have run numerous 100km, and even a 100 mile ultra. But over the last couple of years I’ve used my off season to recover and spend quality time with my family. I have started to get that feeling again, and I’m looking for a challenge, probably in 2026, so it is time to get training and get kitted out. I will be honest, I dont really know where to start when it comes to trail running shoes, but what I do know is I have previously selected shoes which had far more features than needed. I only ever run on light trails, so the hard rock plate and ankle support isn’t something I need. So I looked for a light and comfortable shoe, which looked good, and that’s exactly what I got.

The trail running shoes are super light for a trail shoe, and can easily be worn casually. I’ve been walking the dog learning them, and its perfect in all weather. They are really comfortable, yet still firm, and with 50 miles of running in light trail I am happy with the results so far. I am really impressed with the continental rubber for the outsole, and 4mm lugs offer great grip.

I haven’t really put these shoes to the test right now. I think the strengths are the outsole, comfort and stability. They feel like a comfortable road running shoe, but with more stability and grip. In addition they are at the entry range of cost, so more affordable.

I wouldn’t want to use these for more difficult terrain. Whilst the tongue is well designed, the upper doesn’t have the same fit as some others in the range, or the ring to help pull the shoe on. These are simple features that would improve the shoe.

I think these are the perfect trail shoe for me, with the light trails I run in, but I want to put them to the test to see how they cope with some distance. So I plan on entering a marathon next weekend on some light trails to see how my feet are at the end… I will let you know how they go.
