Having a blast at Parkrun. As part of my "how to run a marathon faster series" I'm trying to improve my own times. This is a good starting point. It felt hard, but that's a good wake up call, and sets a good standard to build on. I'm pleased with the time, just not pleased with how hard it felt to get it. I am ok getting up to desired speed at the start, but I just cant hold in to it. Part of that is lack of confidence, part of it will be that I don't have realistic expectations right now. One thing for sure is the only way its going to change is by training for it, working hard and putting speed work in. Although i would love to just turn up and be running my best, it doesn't come naturally, it will take hard work, and I'm about to embark on the journey. Who is with me? After a very busy year I find myself without any races in my diary for the rest of the year. So I'm going to spend some time training and getting faster, and I'm inviting some inspirational people who are leading the way to give us their tips about running faster. With my running season finished, and no events in the 2018 calendar, I'm looking for my next challenge. My I initial challenge is to find my motivation. Yes it feel hard to believe as I'm seen running every week, but that has often been the only run I've done that week, and I'm far from at my best. I want to get my speed back (I've said this before), I mean it this time (I've also said this before)... the only way I'm going to do it is by putting the effort in. Fitting in this 5 mile run today took no time at all, and it's a start of my improvements.
