Day 5 of 11: 11 Marathons in 11 Days

On 13th May 2021 I took part in my 5th of 11 marathons in 11 days. I can’t quite believe I’m saying this. It was only a decade ago I ran my first, and before now I have never ran more than 2 marathons in a row, but today is marathon number 5 in as many days. I woke up with a sore head, feeling a little sick, and everything was hurting a little. I definitely think my recovery routine is helping though, because despite the aches and pains, I went out and persevered to the end.

Day 5 #flatlay

I went a bit bananas with my kit today. My pair of Limited Edition banana Launch 8 arrived in the post yesterday, so I had to go with the yellow theme. With this Marathon I have ran my 77th qualifying event towards the 100 marathon club.

Today it rained throughout the whole race. Not heavy, but enough to make it a little miserable out there. All my clothes got wet, and my new trainers got muddy. We went over the blue bridge route, and again my left ankle hurts where I sprained it 5 years ago. I think it must be the uneven surface on this route, I far prefer the other route as it has a flay surface, even if it is about 0.3 miles longer. On a positive note the plasters on my nipples are working a treat #gamechanger.

Day 5 of 11 complete

Another consistent pace throughout delivering 3:59:26 on my watch, so I think the official time is 3:59:25. A new time, and the quickest of my 5 marathons by a second. Truth be told, I could easily delay a second to make it perfect, but I would rather run it naturally and see how close I can get. My body hurts, and it is getting harder to hold a constant pace. I think it would be easier if I just ran a bit quicker, maybe walking occasionally, but for now I will try to keep up my consistent pacing. It is also getting a bit boring, 4 hours a day… but Tomorrow is day 6, and at the half marathon point I will be half way through my challenge.

Day 5 medal

I’ve raised over £2,900 for Cancer Research. Thank you so much for all your donations. I also still have around 30 medals left for the #FunbusMarathon For you to complete your own virtual challenge and get one of my amazing medals, so it’s not to late to get involved. Please do get involved.
